2019 began GSIN's fifth five-year plan and brought important progress in transformation. The year's ten milestones, as recorded in this retrospective, were:
1. Industrial-base and demonstration recognition: GSIN joined the first batches of Guangdong and Shenzhen Prefabricated Building Industrial Bases. Cumark Tower's EPC project joined Guangdong's first demonstration projects and received the 2019 Outstanding Observation Project honour.
2. Industry integrity: In May 2019, GSIN was recognized as a 2018 Trustworthy Enterprise in China's Steel Structure Industry, repeating its 2016 recognition.
3. Quality awards: Tencent Wuhan R&D Center received the 2018–2019 National Quality Engineering Award in December, following Huizhou Central Stadium's 2011 award. Shenzhen CCB Tower and Bojin Business Plaza received the 13th China Steel Structure Gold Award in May. GSIN had then won eight such gold awards across high-rise, urban-complex, industrial and sports projects.
4. Guangming Science City: In July, the 4,390 m² exhibition center on a 15,200 m² site was completed in 35 days despite heat, rain and typhoons, with around-the-clock work.
5. Green-building standards: Shenzhen's Green Building Construction Quality Acceptance Standard, to which GSIN contributed, was published in March 2019, strengthening whole-process supervision and technical support for acceptance.
6. Technology and industry exchange: GSIN hosted the August mid-year industrial-base meeting, attended by 56 representatives from 28 organizations and relevant authorities. Cumark Tower's light-panel system was selected for Shenzhen's key 13th Five-Year construction technology research programme in November.
7. Shanghai Reeb Brewery: GSIN signed a RMB 280 million construction contract for the redevelopment at 379 Hongmei South Road, Minhang District. The approximately 71,900 m² site and 287,300 m² total floor area were planned for offices, retail and modern housing.
8. Nanyun Jiayuan: Groundbreaking took place in January 2020 in Gaogang District, Taizhou. The company's first EPC prefabricated high-rise steel residential project is recorded here as 36.4 m high, with 11 above-ground storeys, one basement level and approximately 7,300 m².
9. Shenzhen anniversary honours: In January 2020, Shenzhen's civil engineering and architectural society named GSIN an Outstanding Construction Organization for the Special Economic Zone's 40th anniversary and Chairman Zhang Feng an Outstanding Individual.
10. Labour honour: General Office Director Kang Baorong received the 2019 Guangdong May 1 Labour Medal in April.
Looking to 2020, GSIN would retain its dual Green Building and Steel Fabrication strategy, improve development quality and pursue its responsibility to build homes people can trust.
