A new landmark: Steel structure topped out at the 358.7 m Shenwan Huiyun Center

At 9:30 on 26 July, representatives of Shenzhen Metro, Vanke, China Construction First Group, Shenzhen AUBE Engineering Design Consultants, Shenzhen Huaxi Construction Management and GSIN gathered to mark topping out of Shenwan Huiyun Center's main steel structure.

As an early project in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, the tower is recorded here as 358.7 m high, with four basement levels, 79 above-ground storeys and approximately 35,000 tonnes of steel. It uses a mega-frame, core tube and outrigger-truss system and is described as China's tallest building above a metro development.

Mega steel-reinforced perimeter columns reach 2.4 × 2.85 m in section; the heaviest column lift is 33.2 tonnes. Giant cruciform outrigger nodes measure up to 5.5 × 5.5 × 3 m, with a maximum truss lift of 40.6 tonnes. Below floor 12, a truss-suspended floor system opens up the main lobby.

From the first mega-column lift in 2017 to the last beam in 2020, the team overcame a demanding programme, complex construction and high technical requirements. GSIN continued to apply its values of integrity, diligence, gratitude and innovation, aiming for the China Construction Steel Structure Gold Award.

Milestones shown in the article: high-rise construction accelerated in February 2018; the tower passed 200 m in January 2019 and 300 m in October 2019; the main steel structure topped out on 26 July 2020. GSIN pays tribute to everyone involved in building this waterfront landmark.
