Under Shenzhen's construction science and technology programme management rules (Shen Jian Gui [2020] No. 17) and the acceptance notice for key 13th Five-Year research projects, ten projects passed expert acceptance: four were designated Construction Technology Demonstration Projects and six were rated qualified. GSIN's Cumark Tower was among the four demonstration projects.
The panel found that its complete prefabricated steel-structure light-panel system meets national and Shenzhen requirements for energy efficiency, emissions reduction, environmental protection and a circular economy. It reduces structural dead load and improves seismic performance while meeting envelope requirements, providing a useful demonstration for steel construction.
Innovations include externally mounted lightweight wall panels on a high-rise steel building and windows fixed to the structure through independent steel framing, with flexible connections to the lightweight exterior panels. The panel identified the complete system as suitable for wider promotion.
GSIN will strengthen research and the application of new technologies, processes, materials and products, working towards integrated prefabricated steel-building solutions and products.
