On 19 December 2021, GSIN attended the Guangdong Steel Structure Association's sixth third member congress and sixth fourth executive council meeting at Guangzhou Hongde International Hotel. GSIN's Guangming Tian'an Cloud Park project received the 13th Guangdong Steel Structure Gold Award (Yuegang Award), and project managers received Outstanding Technical Personnel recognition.
Located in Guangming District, Shenzhen, on the former Guangming Farm Phase II TFY23 development site, the international conference center has a total floor area of approximately 148,659.9 m², including 50,298.6 m² below ground, and uses 3,800 tonnes of steel.
In July 2021, experts reviewed quality, scale, difficulty, innovation and management under the Yuegang Award rules. They noted the use of several steel technologies promoted within the ministry's Ten New Technologies for Construction, improving technical standards, quality and safety.
The project involved numerous large components, long spans and widely distributed construction points. Drawing on 23 years of experience, the team managed overlapping steel and concrete work, crane travel and lifting on basement roof slabs, and installation of components up to 42.5 m long and 53 tonnes, as well as complex trusses of varying shapes. Project managers published three technical papers.
Tian'an Cloud Park forms part of Guangming Science City's education–research integration cluster and central area, supporting research, technology transfer and academic exchange. The award recognizes GSIN's contribution to this landmark conference facility and the district's development.
