First high-altitude asymmetric steel skybridge successfully lifted at Futong Jiuyue Mansion

In mid-January 2022, the high-level skybridge at Futong Jiuyue Mansion was successfully lifted into position. Located north of Xinsha Road in Futian District, Shenzhen, the project comprises three super high-rise towers and a kindergarten, with a total floor area of 185,533 m².

The asymmetric, fully cantilevered skybridge links Towers 2 and 3 at elevation 95.4 m. It is 48.1 m long and 6.45 m wide and incorporates a swimming pool 16.6 m long and 5.6 m wide.

The mainly H-section steel trusses weigh approximately 190 tonnes; the acrylic pool panels approximately 40 tonnes; the lifted curtain-wall portion approximately 6 tonnes; and the lifting platform approximately 50 tonnes. GSIN used hydraulic overall lifting to position and connect the assembly, described in the release as more than 300 tonnes.

Drawing on experience in steel design and construction, the team developed a tray lifting approach for the cantilevered pool. It addressed extensive high-level welding, demanding weld quality, protection of acrylic panels and asymmetric loading. The trusses were accurately connected to the main structure. Fifteen days later, the steel tray was separated and safely returned to ground level.
