GSIN's prefabricated steel-structure housing at Ningxi Yuefu in Dongtai, Yancheng, received support under Jiangsu's 2022 Green Building Development Special Fund as a Green Building Quality Improvement Project, in the category of integrated new-building-industrialization technology demonstration.
The project has 25 above-ground storeys and two basement levels, a floor area of 10,971 m² and a height of 83.25 m, as stated in this news release. It addresses technical barriers to steel structures in high-rise housing and was featured in CCTV Finance's Steel Backbone documentary.
Its steel frame and bracing system uses square hollow-section columns. In June 2020, an expert panel led by Professor Shu Ganping of Southeast University reviewed the system and endorsed its suitability for high-rise steel housing.
The building uses GSIN's proprietary prefabricated steel-structure light-panel technology. H-section beams have unequal flange widths, with lower flanges narrower than the walls to avoid exposed beams. Some floors use removable steel-bar truss decking, allowing unfinished interiors to be handed over directly and the bottom formwork to be reused.
Interior walls use single ALC panels; exterior walls use an ALC panel–cavity–ALC panel enclosure. Suspended-platform installation and dry construction eliminate plastering, save water and materials, and integrate enclosure, insulation, fire resistance and waterproofing. The double-layer structure also improves energy performance.
Jiangsu's special fund supports greener urban and rural construction under carbon-peaking goals. GSIN's approach emphasizes quality, low energy consumption and building industrialization, demonstrating green design, technology, performance and operations to support high-quality industry development.
