On 3 June, the international cargo warehouse at the Phase III east cargo area of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport was successfully topped out. GSIN is responsible for steel construction on the project.
Project overview: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Phase III Expansion Cargo Area Works. The site lies at the airside–landside boundary between the second and third eastern runways, north of Terminal T3 and the reserved future satellite terminal. It occupies 84,913.38 m², with a floor area of 110,528 m² and estimated steel consumption of approximately 5,800 tonnes.
Both the international and domestic cargo terminals use portal-frame steel structures with a maximum span of 72 m. The international terminal is 272 m long and 11.5 m high, using 1,695.8 tonnes of steel. Its steel beams are assembled and spliced on site before being lifted in three sections.
The photographs show the project team's site managers, the relative positions of the cargo areas, the international terminal's steel structure and construction activities. A rare double rainbow appeared over the site shortly before topping out.
Completion of the international warehouse marks a strong start. GSIN will continue with the larger domestic warehouse, working towards high-quality contract delivery.
