On 7 June, a 26.5-tonne large-section steel beam was successfully lifted into position at Xichong Depot on Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase III. GSIN's team completed the first lift despite persistent rain, following the planned lifting and safety procedures.
The depot lies in a trapezoidal area north of the Yanba Expressway and west of a planned green corridor, with staggered maintenance and operating sheds. Future over-depot development includes a platform of approximately 100,000 m² and 15 buildings within and around it.
GSIN's maintenance-shed and throat-area work uses approximately 5,000 tonnes of steel. The maintenance shed's encased steelwork comprises welded built-up sections, with 15 columns and 32 beams at approximately 14 m elevation. Beam sections are welded H2000×700×38×48, H1700×500×30×42 and H1100–500×500×30×42.
The milestone established a sound start to construction. GSIN will continue to coordinate safety, quality and progress for timely delivery and the future opening of Metro Line 8 Phase III.
