Construction begins on Hainan Art Museum

On the morning of 21 July, steel construction began at Hainan Provincial Art Museum. An 85-tonne-capacity mobile crane lifted steel beam NC-GKL1-29, weighing 4.4 tonnes. GSIN is responsible for the steelwork.

The museum occupies plots JDWH-04-A03/A04 in Haikou's Jiangdong New Area international cultural district, south of Wenming East Tunnel and facing the Nandu River. It has one basement and four above-ground storeys on a 67,348 m² site, with a floor area of 33,600 m².

The structure uses reinforced-concrete shear walls with steel roof beams and composite steel-truss decking. The developer is Haikou's tourism, culture, radio, television and sports authority; the general contractor is China Construction First Group.

Steelwork from level 1 to the roof includes encased columns, steel columns, beams and embeds. Columns include H, cruciform and square-tube sections; beams are H and square-tube sections, mainly Q390GJC. Embeds connect steel columns and beams to the concrete structure. Total steel is estimated at 3,600 tonnes.

The completed museum will provide multifunctional public cultural facilities. GSIN committed to quality, efficiency and timely delivery.
