Warehouse 1 at Yihai Kerry's South China grain and oil production, sales and integrated food-processing base in Guangzhou topped out its main steel structure. GSIN is responsible for the project's steel construction.
The project occupies 156,919.00 m² on plot XJ-5-1 north of Xiji Road, Xiagang Subdistrict, Huangpu District, Guangzhou, with a floor area of 416,495.83 m². It includes warehouses and workshops with steel and concrete frames. The developer is Yihai Kerry (Guangzhou) Food Industries Co., Ltd.; the general contractor is China Construction First Group.
Steelwork is concentrated in Warehouse 1 and wall purlins on other buildings. Warehouse 1 uses circular columns, welded H beams, buckling-restrained braces, wall purlins and steel stairs in Q355B. The largest circular column is D950×30; maximum primary and secondary beam sections are BH900–1150×600×20×36 and BH900×400×10×18. Floor decking includes TD4-90, TD4-120 and TD4-170 steel-truss systems.
Warehouse walls use C-section purlins and rock-wool sandwich panels. Buildings 2, 4, 5 and 8 use embeds, square tubes, C purlins and rock-wool panels. Total project steel is estimated at 9,600 tonnes; the heaviest beam component is about 6.5 tonnes.
Warehouse 1 is 89.7 m long and 86.5 m wide, with one basement, seven above-ground storeys and a height of 57 m. Its approximately 8,600 tonnes of steel account for about 90% of the project total. The team will complete remaining wall purlins and steelwork to the client and general contractor's requirements.
