On the afternoon of 10 December, the final large-section steel beam, weighing 11 tonnes, was installed at Xichong Depot on Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase III, marking completion of the steel structure delivered by GSIN.
The depot lies in Xichong Community, Kuichong Subdistrict, Dapeng New District, north of the Yanba Expressway and west of a planned green corridor. Maintenance and operating sheds have a staggered layout. The project reserves conditions for over-depot development, including a platform of approximately 100,000 m² and 15 buildings within and around it.
GSIN's work covers the maintenance shed and throat areas 2, 3 and 4, with approximately 5,000 tonnes of steel. The maintenance shed uses a fully braced frame and sloping roof at 14.000 m, equivalent to an absolute elevation of 20.600 m. Its encased steelwork uses welded built-up sections, with 15 columns and 32 beams installed at approximately 14 m.
Maintenance-shed beam sections include welded H2000×700×38×48, H1700×500×30×42 and H1100–500×500×30×42. The lifting campaign involved 166 beams weighing approximately 366 tonnes, mainly Q335B steel as recorded in the original article.
The throat areas use steel-reinforced concrete frames. Area 3 has two floor slabs, 27 columns weighing approximately 370 tonnes and 50 beams weighing approximately 480 tonnes, with maximum fabricated length of 27 m in Q355B. Areas 2 and 4 have five column types and respectively 42 and 38 columns, primarily Q355B.
Heavy columns exceeded 30 tonnes each, with 15 columns fabricated full-length. Individual beams weighed up to 24 tonnes and typical spans reached 32.400 m. The team used rational segmentation and large lifting equipment; seven oversized throat-area beams were assembled on site before lifting. GSIN emphasized safe delivery through coordinated construction and quality control.
